Around two months after Mumbai Indians clinched their third Indian Premier League title, the franchise has finally received the customised championship belt, as had been promised to them by the World Wrestling Entertainment’s chief operating officer Triple H.
The belt has the logo of Mumbai Indians on both sides and the franchise put up a picture with captain Rohit Sharma holding it on Friday. The picture, uploaded on Twitter by the defending champions has gone viral and has been lauded by WWE and cricket fans from across the globe.

On July 13, the wrestling superstar had tweeted: “@MIPaltan @ImRo45 as promised, the @WWE Title is on its way… Congratulations! @WWEIndia”.
This was the first time that such a gift was sent by WWE to an IPL champion. Naturally, both the franchise and the captain were floored by the gesture. “This is unreal, to be holding this championship belt from the champion himself. Lot of fond memories. Thank you @TripleH & @WWE @mipaltan,” Sharma wrote on his official Twitter and Instagram handles.
In what turned out to be a last-ball finish, Mumbai Indians had defeated Rising Pune Supergiant in the final at Hyderabad to lift the crown in the 10th edition of the razzmatazz league. It was a low-scoring one with Mumbai Indians being able to score just 129 in their allotted overs after batting first, but a disciplined line-and-length from their bowlers ensured the game goes down to the wire despite their opposition having four wickets in hand.
